Life, Death, and Geology
Patricia Jordan combines her love of fabric and feminine arts such as quilting with printmaking to explore issues of biological life, aging, and death in the context of geological time.
Inspired by biological imagery encountered in researching the physiological processes of cell deterioration, death and rejuvenation, as well as the origin of life on Earth, fossils, evolution, and stratification, she combines shapes reminiscent of the stone walls around Nashville and of Rocky Mountain boulders in a new juxtaposition, relying upon chance in various printmaking processes.
